Safari 27.3 Beta Introduces Adaptive Dark Mode to Convert Bright Web Pages

Apple's new browser feature automatically analyzes websites without native dark themes and converts them into a seamless dark reading experience.

Apple has announced Adaptive Dark Mode in the Safari 27.3 beta, targeting the persistent UX gap where nearly 40% of web page loads originate from users in dark mode, yet only 10% of sites natively support it.

When a user with system-wide dark mode enabled visits a bright webpage, Safari analyzes the page layout and offers an instant preview of Adaptive Dark Mode. Users can tap 'Try' to seamlessly invert the aesthetic. Websites that explicitly declare color-scheme support via HTML or CSS meta tags remain untouched by the heuristic.
