Lutra Unveils the HOA A1, a Radically Minimalist Camera With No Screen or Traditional Viewfinder

South Korean startup Humans of Authenticity launched the HOA A1, an unconventional compact camera that ditches digital displays entirely, using its physical rectangular frame as the viewfinder.

Challenging conventional digital camera ergonomics, South Korean consumer electronics startup Lutra Inc. has launched its debut camera brand, Humans of Authenticity (HOA), with the unorthodox HOA A1. Abandoning rear LCD screens and electronic viewfinders entirely, the camera relies on its own rectangular physical frame to compose shots.

Users look straight through the frame with both eyes open, capturing subjects naturally as they appear in the environment. Equipped with a 26mm equivalent f/1.75 prime lens paired with a 16-megapixel Sony IMX sensor, the device outputs 14.5-megapixel images (4656 x 3104). The minimalist device champions a purist philosophy aimed at freeing photographers from digital distraction.
