Granola Launches Dictation to Rival Wispr
Meeting notetaker Granola expands its consumer voice AI capabilities with a new universal dictation tool.
Consumer voice AI applications continue converging as meeting notetaking app Granola launched a new dictation feature, following a similar cross-feature trend set by competitors like Wispr. Operating seamlessly on Mac devices, Granola's tool allows users to press the 'Fn' key, speak freely, and have their cleaned text posted across prompts, emails, and messages. The company confirmed plans to roll out the dictation capabilities to iOS and Windows shortly.
Granola and Wispr hold valuations of $1.5 billion and $2 billion respectively, though their broader strategies differ; Granola centers on meeting workflows, while Wispr operates an in-house research lab exploring human-computer interfaces. This feature crossover is reshaping the voice startup ecosystem, with platforms like Fireflies and Speechify also merging dictation and meeting transcription.
