Google Takes Over Crusoe’s Wyoming Data Center Project with $17B Plan

Google has acquired an unfinished data center project in southeastern Wyoming from Crusoe, committing $17 billion to develop the massive campus.

Data center developer Crusoe has confirmed the sale of its unfinished southeastern Wyoming facility to Google. Google, which previously considered the project as a potential customer, stepped in to take over development following concerns regarding cost overruns and construction timelines under Crusoe's management.

Originally announced alongside infrastructure firm Tallgrass with a long-term goal of scaling to 10 gigawatts of power capacity, Google has now announced a $17 billion investment to bring the campus to life. The transaction underscores the complexities independent developers face in managing power, equipment, and community relations for hyperscale facilities.
