Ghostly Cat's Head Nebula Captured by Webb and Hubble Telescopes
New astronomical imagery reveals the feline-shaped star-forming region glowing in the outer reaches of the Carina Nebula.
Just in time for Halloween, new imaging from the Hubble and James Webb Space Telescopes highlights the Cat's Head Nebula located roughly 7,500 light-years from Earth. Situated within the broader Carina Nebula, the region features glowing red 'eyes' corresponding to young stars trapped within cosmic dust.
Complementing these findings, astrophotographers recently documented atmospheric airglow reflecting off the 15-meter dish of the decommissioned SEST telescope, celebrating ongoing cosmic observation.
