Canva Restructures Operations and Announces Layoffs Affecting 22 Percent of Its Workforce

Co-founder and CEO Melanie Perkins announced a sweeping organizational overhaul impacting 1,271 employees as the design platform shifts back to agile, small-team foundations.

Design software giant Canva has announced major operational changes impacting 1,271 staff members—representing 22 percent of its total workforce. In a note to employees, co-founder and CEO Melanie Perkins stated that minor adjustments were insufficient to set the company up for its next decade of growth.

The reorganization involves consolidating Product, Growth, and Platform divisions into a unified operational unit. By returning to roots of small, autonomous teams with direct ownership, Canva aims to streamline decision-making amidst a challenging macro landscape.
