BYD Sells More EVs in a Single Month Than the US Managed All Quarter

Global EV leader BYD surpasses 300,000 monthly battery-electric vehicle sales for the first time, outperforming entire national quarterly markets.

Leading new energy vehicle manufacturer BYD reported a record-breaking October, selling 490,168 total NEVs—an 11% increase year-over-year. Pure battery electric vehicles (BEVs) drove this surge, reaching 305,743 units sold and marking the first time monthly EV sales crossed the 300,000 milestone.

To contextualize the scale of production, BYD's single-month EV sales outpaced the entire United States market, which totaled roughly 262,500 EVs sold across the entire third quarter. With six consecutive months of sales growth, BYD's total EV volume through October reached nearly 1.95 million units.
