AWS Projected to Reach $1 Trillion With Aggressive Infrastructure Spending

Amazon CEO Andy Jassy reaffirms ambitions for AWS to become a $1 trillion revenue business, backed by an estimated $220B in 2026 capex.

During Amazon’s latest quarterly earnings call, CEO Andy Jassy reiterated his steadfast belief that AWS is on a trajectory to become a trillion-dollar annual revenue business. To support this explosive growth and capture booming artificial intelligence demand, Amazon is ramping up capital expenditures significantly.

Jassy revealed that projected 2026 cash capital expenditures will hit approximately $220 billion, with the vast majority allocated directly to AWS infrastructure buildouts, and spending expected to scale even higher in 2027. While Wall Street analysts scrutinized profit margins and spending sustainability, leadership defended the outlay as essential foundational investments for the future of cloud computing and generative AI.
