Astrobee Robot Cubes Continue Supporting Astronauts Aboard the Space Station

Developed by NASA, the toaster-sized free-flying Astrobee robotic assistants continue to aid astronauts with microgravity testing and daily station tasks.

Operating aboard the International Space Station (ISS), the Astrobee robotic assistants—compact metal cubes roughly the size of a toaster—serve as vital helpers for astronauts managing challenging onboard tasks. Named Bumble, Honey, and Queen, these free-flying robots assist mission teams on Earth and space crews by testing new microgravity technologies and handling routine station chores.

First deployed to the station, these autonomous robotic systems demonstrate the critical role that robotics and automation play in long-duration human spaceflight environments.
