Artemis II Commander Reid Wiseman Named Deputy Director for NASA's JPL

Following active astronaut retirement, Artemis II commander Reid Wiseman transitions to Caltech associate VP and deputy director of NASA's JPL.

The commanders and crew members of NASA's groundbreaking Artemis II lunar mission continue their post-flight transitions into key aerospace leadership roles. Reid Wiseman, who commanded humanity's first crewed mission around the moon in decades, has been appointed as Caltech associate vice president and deputy director of NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL).

Effective November 30, Wiseman brings his extensive operational expertise and flight experience to helm engineering initiatives at JPL. Following fellow crewmate Victor Glover's transition into an executive advisory role, this appointment cements the mission's legacy in shaping the future of robotic and crewed deep-space exploration.
